All resumes for the open Messiah job were due today - I would guess an announcement would be happening before the end of the month. You don't want too much uncertainty around recruits and current players that other programs might try to take advantage of in picking off a recruit or two. Prediction: Shaggy.

If the freshman class is weaker, it will only be because there are not too many open spots as really we only lost two starters. Six seniors leave the program but four were role players: backup hero goalkeeper Blossey, Rinker who only started one game this year, Crompton who started 50% of the games and Dorsey who got injured. Sanders and Binger need to be replaced and I only think it will be difficult to replace Binger. The team returns almost 80% of its goal scoring from this past season.

Losing Davey is big, but as someone else said, the tradition will live on and anyone who eagerly expects a drop off in the Falcons is sorely mistaken.

Messiah players are like a different breed - while they will miss Davey, they will all have huge motivation to prove that the program is about them not just one person and so I don't expect any drop off in their play or success.

Wonder when Shag will finally be announced as the head coach - honestly, I think he was the best choice all along. Too much to learn in terms of NCAA regualtions, recruiting, etc. from being a HS coach.
