I have seen Messiah in person twice at the beginning of the year and Loras a few times on webcast. Should be a very even game. I thought Messiah was the better
team from what I have seen, slightly.

Kickin95, what is Loras' connection with Bolivar school in Cali, Columbia? Looks like they have got some great talent to come to Dubuque, Iowa. Looking forward to this matchup. This week off is killing me. |

Loras has had a long connection with South American students in general for many year, my team (92-95) had 4 brazilians and a columbian on it, but as far as
Bolivar school in specific I don't think there was any special connection ( now I am sure there is). Santi Mejia came first and liked it so much he told
his best friend Miguel Bonilla who is a year younger than him to come too and then they had another friend Garces who came this year.

Yeah, I was watching that Loras/ONU game on Webcast, but that's a way better look at that rip. Awesome shot, it was even tailing out away from the keeper.
In my book, that's comparibile to Kai's two highlight reel goals from deep last year (one against Etown to win, I don't remember who the other one
was against, but I thought it was even better). You won't see much better.
As far as Loras, they look solid, and the Colombian connection seems outstanding and in on all of the goals and assists. Personally I'm just happy that they're finally making the Duhawks play a game on the road in the playoffs this year. Nothing like getting to the Final 4 without ever having to log a mile on a bus or plane. I guess Trinity should relocate to Iowa. |

Yeah, Loras did get a nice draw this year as far as travel goes. Last year was much more difficult, I made a last minute decision to grab the wife and hop in
the SUV for a 22 hour road trip to Rocky Mount NC (NC Wesleyan) for the sweet 16/ Elite 8. It obviously ended up being worth. I am happy to say I have decided
to fly to NC this year.

Maybe it's because Loras was in the Final 4 last year, so I had heard of Duhawks then...but I was more surprised by the Lord Jeffs of Amherst. How is that
even a mascot?

If you go to Loras' website on the Athletic page there is actually a tab to click with that exact question "What is a Duhawk"? There you will be
told the story of how the fabled Duhawk came to be and almost didn't if the school had gotten it's way.

i was thinking the same thing about that duhawk!! i was at the montclair / messiah match in newport news. congrats to messiah. they played a great game and deserved the win. msu had their chances to win especially in the 1st ot but overall, messiah had the better of the play. if your son was #22, he played some quality minutes - he's a fine player. my son said that many of the messiah players and the coach came up to him after the game and said some really classy things. when he told me that i was not at all surprised. i should be pissed at you guys for beating us 1-0 in the tourney the last two years in a row but i do respect excellence  i'm a jersey soccer fan first and a northeast soccer fan second so
i'll be rooting for messiah vs loras. i don't know what i'll do if you guys play stevens in the final. i'll cross that bridge if it comes
to that.
i did see loras play twice on the net. they surprised me - they are very good. you guys are going to have your hands full but i like your prediction (messiah 2-1). hopefully you will be able to attend the game(s). good luck. |
