Montclair has their hands full in 2009. They lost 3 All-Americans in crucial positions. Winning the NJAC 4 straight years will be tough as Stockton and RUC
are right on their heels. Neither team lost much.

hi lastguy | #2 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

in fairess to gm129, i believe he was recognizing coach sentowski and extolling the virtues of the team's past performance rather than making any 2009
predictions. remember that ruc lost 7-8 starters from the 2007 team and they still made the ncaa's in 2008. yes, msu loses some excellent players
next season but they had tremedously talented young players (brown, pauls, benack, odea, malta etc) on the bench that didn't get much time due to the
team's tremendous depth. don't count out a forth straight njac title just yet! coach sentowski is a master recruiter and a great coach - that will
also factor into the equation. also keep in mind that they still have 3 all-njac players returning - 2 of them were named to the all-region team.
it will be an extremely competitive conference next year with stockton, ruc, msu and wpu. i do miss all of the banter back and forth already! i plan on attending some msu's games next season especially the ruc game in camden. hopefully you and chelsea (my favorite ruc rooters) will be there. i'd like to buy you guys a soft pretzel and a coke and talk some horse racing with my fellow horse racing degenerate, chelseablue:)) hope you guys had a great holiday.

Dont sleep on Ramapo this coming fall. Young team last year, and heard they picked up a few talented transfers this spring. Could push to finish amongst the
top of the conference/

Ramapo and the rest of the NJAC | #5
|
Ramapo returned the same team that went to the NJAC semis in 2007 in 2008. Not sure what happened to them last year.
They added 2 D1 transfers from NJIT last season, finished 1-6-2 in NJAC play and 7-10-2 overall against a schedule that was pretty medicore. I hope they bounch back too, but if I had my pick in 2009, I would say... Top Shelf- MSU, RUC, Stockton (in any order)- the rich will keep getting richer 2nd Class- WPU, TCNJ, RUN (WPU is top in this group) Lower Class- Kean, Rowan, Ramapo (dog fight) Bottom of the barrel- NJCU (they just lose way too much and will struggle to be in the Top 8 in 2009) |

I'm going to agree with lastguy here
Not really sure what happen to Ramapo in 2008... their biggest problem was NOT being able to put ball in the back of the net. 2008 had to one of the worse offensive seasons for Ramapo that I can remember. The same is said every year about Ramapo though...they typically start the season out extremely hot by beating a bunch of medicore teams, and they really pound the bottom of the barrel teams. People start talking about "how good" Ramapo can be, and then the NJAC season starts. I honestly see them improving next season, but I really don't see them knocking off any of the preseason top 3 teams. Making the NJAC tournament should always be a realistic goal for Ramapo. As for the top 3, I see it being Stockton, RUC and then Montclair State to start the season. Glad the 2009 post started so early this year... and I hope everybody is enjoying the offseason. I doubt I'll get to see much NJAC soccer in 09 being that I'm no longer in Jersey |

returning players | #7 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

I was just wondering if anyone knows if any players that should be returning are not?
Any big transfers and unfortunate grade issues? There has not been a post in a couple weeks so just thought I might try and mix it up a bit. |

I know Rutgers-Camden has a decent recruiting class coming in, but will refrain from listing names until a later date...
Just to stir the pot, I believe they may have nabbed a few solid transfers as well... |

I do not have any info about recruits coming in but I am very excited for the upcoming season.
I know the NJAC is going to continue making a name for itself across the country because there is a lot of talent in this division! Does anyone have dates for games to be played in the spring? Best of luck to the NJAC teams in 2009. |

RUC- Athens Showdown | #10
|
RUC will be going to Athens Showdown to play D1, D2, and D3 schools. This tournament has featured many of the top d3 schools from the east coast each of the
past few seasons (Messiah, York, Stevens).
Tournament is on Saturday April 18th |

Spring Games | #11 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Last Guy - Did they change the rules as far as Spring games for D3? I thought that D3 teams could only play 90 minutes in the Spring, but your post sounds as
if they'll be playing a couple of games? What are the Spring rules for the amount of games (or minutes) for D3 and also D1? Do you think any D1 teams would
want to play a D3 team? If I were a D1 team, I'm not sure that I would want to play a D3 team. If you win, it's because you are supposed to, but if you
lose, it could be embarrassing to the program.

Think its 180min in a 24hr period. You can also play an alumni game on a seperate day and a charity game as long as it is in conjunction with another sport in
the school. Those all count as meeting dates tho within the 20 I think it is? Someone will correct me if I am wrong

The coaches preseason poll should be coming out soon....
It may look like this and/or it is how I see the league shaping up. Coaches Predictions (guess) 1. Stockton 2. Rutgers-Camden 3. Montclair 4. Willy P 5. TCNJ 6. Rutgers-Newark (DARK HORSE) 7. Ramapo 8. Kean 9. NJCU 10. Rowan My Predictions on Final Standings 1. Rutgers Camden - transfers Rhyan Nelson (Susquhenna) and Andrew Filewicz (Etown) added to a strong incoming class.... 2. Richard Stockton 3. Willy P 4. Montclair - not sure of who they are bringing in but losing Mele, Masterson, Amster, and Pfeifer is a big loss... 5. TCNJ 6. Rutgers-Newark - up and coming program (DARK HORSE) 7. Kean 8. Ramapo 9. Rowan 10. NJCU - lose just about every piece of the puzzle... |

Not surprising to see Stockton heading into the season as the preseason favorite... offensively, this team should put up a ton of goals with Duarte, McCallum
and Talmeo.
The defense probably won't be as strong as last year, but still pretty solid. I'm surprised that Montclair is this highly regarded, you can only assume that this team was loaded with talent that sat the bench or saw limited playing time the past 2 seasons RUC can easily be put ahead of Montclair and/or Stockton for that matter. Won't get to see the games this season since I'm not in Jersey, although I do have September and November trips in the works right now. |
